Antique Victorian Faux Coral Cameo Etruscan Necklace Pendant & Chain
Dates to the late Victorian era, circa 1880.
The pendant is crafted in rolled-gold. It is unfortunately not hallmarked. The necklace is not original to the pendant, but is well suited. It's an old heavy gold plate or gold-filled and is also not hallmarked.
The shield shaped pendant has some delicate openwork detailing on the sides, and is claw-set with a tiny (9 mm by 6 mm) faux coral moulded cameo - likely glass. It features the bust of a woman with her head turned ever so slightly to the left. She's actually very well detailed and even has flowers in her hair.
The pendant measures 0.91" from the top of the bail to the base, with a width of 0.61" from side to side. The necklace measures 17 & 5/8" from end to end and closes with a fold-over clasp.
Condition is very good, with no repairs noted. When viewed with a loupe, I can see the back side of the pendant was file tested for gold at some point in the last 130+ years, but it's tough to spot otherwise. Gold wear to chain noted.
