    The Death Certificate of Law Man JAMES (Jim) HENRY EAST
    East was selected by Pat Garrett to be part of the posse that eventually caught up with and captured Billy the Kid at Stinking Springs in December 1880.
    Wow.  He was
    actually there and captured the Kid

    After Jim East served with Pat Garrett, he opened a detective agency in Amarillo, Texas and later moved to Arizona.  In Arizona he served as Sheriff of Douglas as well as city marshal, chief of police and finally as city judge.  He was good friends with famed law man John Horton Slaughter.  Jim East died on May 13, 1930 in Douglas, Arizona.
    Death Certificate copy measures 8 1/2x11 inches, obtained from the state in which he passed lists many, many facts about East including birth and death dates, birthplace, mother and father's names, birthplace, cause of death and many other interesting facts.
