Vintage Galvin Knapp Monarch Desk Fan Cast Iron Steel Works Doesn’t Oscillate
I’m definitely not a vintage fan historian so I base my information on what I glean from the internet. I’ve looked multiple times and I found little to expand my knowledge. Looking for completed sales on eBay was essentially useless.
Apparently Knapp Monarch manufactured these fans for Galvin and I base this assertion on what the badge says. I did read on a antique fan forum that some of these might have later been made of pot metal, this one definitely is not as a magnet easily sticks to it.
This is a working fans but the oscillating feature doesn’t and it’s more than the missing bolt that is the problem. Since the connecting rod is not attached at one end the head can move around. I try and not use the word rare unless I simply can’t find any for sale, so to be on the safe side I’ll call this a HTF item.
Due to the fact these are somewhat “hard to find” and because I haven’t seen any eBay completed sales I’ll price this item rather high, after a month I’ll reevaluate the price or add best offer. Obviously I’m a deplorable capitalist and if that’s what you think fine I don’t need your money.
Please be aware this is a vintage item or nearly an antique so perfection is not possible, it’s a decent example of American manufacturing from your grandparents era. Enjoy it as it is or restore it. It’s been running for more than a hour in my living room without any issues, it’s relatively quiet and produces a decent breeze.
Lastly, packaging is always a priority for me. Valuable items are treated with respect as damage during the shipping process is completely unacceptable. Outside of a act of God your item will arrive as seen in the photos, damage free and ready to enjoy.
